Wirana Markets: India
India for long has been one of the biggest market for recycling ships. Most of the recycling is done in Alang which is in the state of Gujarat on the west coast of India.
Alang has about 120 working ship recycling yards which can recycle about 3.00 -
4.00 million MT LDT.
More than 95 yards have received Statement of Completion for HKC compliant
recycling from Class NK/ RINA / IRS / Lloyds.
India is the only major ship recycling country in the world
that has ratified Hong Kong Convention for Safe and Environmentally Sound
Recycling of Ships, 2009.
All the Ship Recycling yards in India are governed by Ship
Recycling Code 2013.
India can handle all sizes and types of ships.
India pays better value for specialized ships like reefers,
LPG, PCC, dry ships.
India pays higher value for vessels due to the ability to pay
better prices for usable second hand machinery, ship spares, non-ferrous
items.
