Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel Distribution for Wirana Shipping Corporation is a relatively new venture (commenced in 2013), considering company’s long history in ship recycling business of more than 35 years where it has become known for its performance, integrity and quality.

Wirana’s expansion into Stainless Steel distribution business in 2013, has been well planned and carries the same management commitment as its shipping activity. To achieve management goals, Stainless Steel activity is carried out by experienced, dedicated and hardworking team. Our main goal is customer satisfaction in terms of delivery, pricing and service.

In a short period of time, our Stainless Steel Division is a major distributor of stainless steel flat products (Sheet, Plate, Coil) in India. Our Company’s financial strength ensures that we always carry stock of various grades with varying width and finish. We hold an average stock of over 1000 MT of materials which helps us to meet our customers’ requirements in short time.

Our warehouse for Stainless Steel products are spread across the world in Europe, South Africa, Singapore and China. We supply materials from Mills in Europe, North America, South America, South Africa, China, etc.

A summary of grades we deal in include 304/304L, 316/316L, 309S, 310S, 2205, 2507, 904L, etc. Finish: BA, 2B, HR No.1, etc., Width: 1000, 1250, 1500,2000, Thk.: 1.00mm to 50.00mm. Please refer details of product specification arranged categorically for your convenience.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel, also known as inox steel or inox from French “inoxydable”, is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.50% chromium content by mass.
Other than chromium, it is common for these steel to be alloyed with nickel, niobium, titanium, molybdenum and other elements. Chemical composition of these Stainless Steel determines their mechanical properties and applications. It is important to make a careful selection of appropriate steel grade because durability and serviceability of manufactured products is influenced by these steel grades.

Austenitic stainless steel

Austenitic stainless steel have excellent corrosion resistant characteristic along with very good weldability, formability besides being the only non-magnetic stainless steel in annealed condition. These steel are useful at higher temperatures as they have good creep resistance and oxidation resistance. Increased corrosion resistance for Austenitic stainless steel is possible due to its 18% chromium and at least 8% nickel content.

Duplex stainless steel

Very good corrosion resistance vis-à-vis cracking, fatigue and stress along with high strength and good toughness are main characteristics of Duplex stainless steel. These stainless steel contain about 22% chromium, about 5% nickel and also molybdenum. Ratio of ferrite to austenite is 50:50

Martensitic stainless steel

Extremely strong, tough, machinable but not as corrosion-resistant as Austenitic and Duplex stainless steel. Martensitic stainless steel can be hardened by heat treatment. By alloying these steel with copper, we get special precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel which gives a very good combination of high strength, good corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties at temperatures of up to 300 degrees celsius. Martensitic stainless steel contains chromium (12%-14%), molybdenum (0.2%-1%), carbon (about 0.1%-1%) and nickel (<2%).

Ferritic stainless steel

Ferritic Stainless steel has chromium (13%-17%) as principal alloying element and there is no nickel addition to these steel. These steel offer good corrosion resistance with regard to stress corrosion cracking. These steel also offer improved weldability and toughness due to lower carbon and nitrogen content.
