One of the large and important market for recycling.The recycling of ships is done at Karachi / Gadani.
Pakistan has about 25 ship recycling yards.
Currently none of the yards have any green certification. However, some
yards
are actively looking at commencing the process of obtaining Statement of
Compliance for HKC
compliant ship recycling.
They prefer tankers to all other types of vessels – the bigger the better.
Pakistan recycles lesser number of ships as compared to Bangladesh and
India.
Can Recycle about 1.50 – 2.00 million MT LDT annually.
